Reasons behind the subject Astrology being disputed in recent era
Disputes related to Astrology are mostly due to:-
1. Failure to predict exactly the results of the planetary combinations in individual natal charts.
2. Some orthodox ideas of the veterinarian groups that Astrology should not be regarded as a branch of science as it appears now a days because in their conservative ideas, Astrology would be degraded if classified as a branch of science.
3. Contrarily, according to a large group of so called modern scientist, astrology, if considered as a member of material science, would seriously degrade science as a whole.
4. And a major part of dispute related to Astrology is played by the jewel merchants who in their business interest exploit astrology without considering the probable impact on the gradation and esteemed crown of astrology.

4. And a major part of dispute related to Astrology is played by the jewel merchants who in their business interest exploit astrology without considering the probable impact on the gradation and esteemed crown of astrology.
Now let us analyse the above mentioned reasons in details....
1- While predicting the events in any individual natal chart, the practitioner in most cases rely on either classical works in verbatim without having any idea of the underlying essence behind each Astrological Sutra and having no idea to co-relate the said Sutras with the running Time and the circumstances of the place concerned and the characteristics of the individual i.e. without having any reference to the Desha-Kala-Patra which determine the exact shape of the event that would be assumed by the impact of the planetary combinations at the moment of birth. let us take for an example, a particular case for illustrating the above analysis. In 1970, one most respected educationist was appearing in an examination of Calcutta University. he was a Capricornian with Jupiter posted in the ascendant, Rahu in Aquarious and Mars together with Mercury in the 10th house. He was then passing through the sub-period of Mercury in the major period of Rahu. During the exam, the planetary transits of the particular day were very adverse for good performance and many astrologers who were consulted by him for day-to-day performance predicted that his performance on that date would not be up to the mark. But, a student of astrology predicted that the examination on that particular date would be postponed and would be scheduled one and half month later and in fact this prediction came true. While, questioned for such a peculiar prediction, the student explained that at that time the transit of Mars, the 4th and 11th for the ascendant was so adverse that had the examination been conducted on that date, performance of the educationist would have been really unsatisfactory if the transitory results would be sole factor. But, the exact event in a native's life is the outcome of the mixed results of running Dasha period and the contemporary planetary transits. In this case, the running Dasha of the native being very helpful for the academic performance, nothing adverse could have happened due to the transit alone and the only way to by-pass it was the adjournment of the examination on that date and the same could not happen till the next Martial transit which took some one and half month since then. And during that period the political situation of the state was such that adjournment of the examination was a very normal matter and on that particular date such a situation actually developed. Taking all these probabilities in to account i,e, the contemporary situation of place and time the student of astrology made such venturous prediction which actually came true. So this is an example of how to predict the exact event in a native life from his birth chart and failure to take this factor in this account lead to erroneous prediction which degrade astrology to the public. The renowned astrologer Dr. B. V. Raman of Bangalore, used to make a comment " None but the Creator Brahma can only predict what will exactly happen" but this scribe humbly submits with full regards to Dr. B. V. Raman, the modern pioneer of Indian Astrology, that the exact event may be predicted if the contemporary situations of the place be taken in to account.
Let us take a hypothetical case for illustrating this principle. Suppose in an individual chart, Venus is posted with weak Sun in the 10th house. We know that every planetary combination affects an individual in three levels viz. physical, social and mental-cum-spiritual. Let us suppose that this chart is related to a number of individuals born in different societies of radically different characters. The combination of Venus with weak and afflicted Sun in the 10th house will impact on the health related to Venetian nature, social defamation and spiritual derailment. But in a society where polygamy is allowed, this combination will not tell upon the social fame contrast to those who are born in societies where this results in social defamation. So this also explains that while predicting the exact event originated from a particular planetary combination the character of the related society and time should be taken into account, otherwise the predictions would prove itself a laughing stock only.
2. We shall now take the 4th factor before discussing the 2nd and the 3rd ones. Now, it is common and highly propagated fact that the jewel merchants exploit the weakness of the public for getting rid of their misfortunes to take recourse to jewels and in many cases now-a-days of so-called "Jantrams, Yagnas, etc. resulting in huge expenses of the individuals and consequent financial gains of the jewelers and so-called astrologers etc. While these prove utter failure to recover the wretched fellow from his ill-fate, they lose their fate in astrology in stead of the commercial personalities.
3. Let us now analyse the 2nd and the 3rd arguments against astrology. Before coming to the arguments we have to know what the term "Science" exactly means.
On minute observations it will be revealed that all events and phenomena in this world are inter-related with one another. To discover these inter-relating links, to predict the existence of hitherto unknown phenomena and to create the same constitute what is termed "Science". Different disciplines of modern science are gradually revealing many unknown principles which are gradually leading to this inevitable conclusions. The consequent task of science is to take every group of events and phenomena into consideration to find a common link without any prejudice and biasness. If acceptance of any thing without test is unscientific, rejection without test is also no less unscientific and this is more so when it comes from personalities who claim themselves to be scientists. This attitude may better be termed as superstitions of scientists and it is rather pseudo-scientific in essence. The basic task of astrology is to predict the future events of a native based on his/her natal chart. although there are other windows also to view the same, but the most cultured one is the traditional astrological principles based on the natal chart. therefore, the inevitable question arises whether it at all possible to predict the future events of a native life. Now, in Newtonian mechanics Object related to space and Time were considered independent of each other. but in terms of Einstein's theory of Relativity, Space and Time are not independent of each other, instead, these are related to each other. so intimately that the conception of independent space and time in three dimension world vanishes giving room for the idea of four dimensional world constituted of events and events only. According to Arthur Eddington "Events do not happen, they are already there and we come across them". this means that all events are located in four dimensional world, both in a human life as also in the other terrestorial matters. so if events are pre-determined then human being by virtue of natural queries will try to explore the future events by any means whatsoever and astrology provides with a relible instrument for this purpose. this constitutes the basic argument for taking astrology into account as a speacial branch of physical sciences and it will be taken up in my future works to find a probable mechanism of this process comprising of a number of different disciplines of material science and Hindu Philosophy and for this reason, the pioneer astrologer of present day in India viz. Late Dr. B.V. Raman of Bangalore rightly observed astrology as a synthesis of all sciences and mother of all philosopies. In the next few paragraph I shall try to add a few lines on this. to understand astrology, the disciplines of science which taken into account are theoritical physics including theory of relativity , quantum of mechanics, web mechanics, theory of genetics, psychology and evidently astronomy. And Hindu philosophy particularly the teaching of Upanishads and there essence contained in ShreeModbhagad Geeta are to be taken into account for understanding the essence of astrology. the details of these will be discussed in my subsequent works.

Ideal Man in Astrological View
As has been explained in the article titled “Teachings of Astrology” in my works “Some Fundamentals of Astrology”, the Zodiac itself without the planets and mathematical points viz. Dragon’s head and tail which are the significators of different complexes represents the Divine instructions of the Supreme Soul for leading an ideal life in all respects. We shall now try to understand this. At the onset, it may be noted that out of the 12th signs of the Zodiac, four groups of three signs each are controlled by four elements viz. Fire, Earth, Air and Water of which the entire material world is composed. Therefore, in an ideal man, these four elements should equally contribute their characteristics to the individual in his/her self-physical, mental, activities and spiritual to form a balanced personality. This is reflected in the Zodiac symbolizing an individual having no complexes to deviate the self from the ideal path indicated by the Divine Self. The life starts according to Hindu Astrology in the sign Aries which is cardinal, fiery sign of Tamas nature ruled by Mars which gets exalted in the sign Capricorn, another Cardinal sign of Tamas nature but of earthy element. The interesting feature is that the Lord of Aries viz. Mars and the Lord of Capricorn viz. Saturn are bitter enemies of each other. This is because Mars is the representative of youth which has plenty of energy but due to immaturity and youth like emotion. It suffers from hastiness in decision which in most cases yields no fruitful results. For this reasons, Mars requires the guidance of matured brain which is available in an old personality having his lifelong experience of material life represented by Saturn. But Saturn is the ruler of two signs viz. Capricorn and Aquarious. Of these two, Capricorn is the Earthy sign of Tamas nature while Aquarious is airy sign of Rajas nature. Therefore, Capricorn is the fittest sign for Mars to express his energy and activity in the best possible manner in practical activities. Moreover, Saturn is the representative of servants as well as Hermits having no personal desire which is the prime criterion of Karma-Sanyasa as said by the Lord Shree Krishna in “The Shreemodbhagbada Geeta” and this work should be of servicing nature having no ego. Therefore, in all perspective Capricorn is the fittest sign for Mars for getting exalted. In Hindu Philosophy, it is repeatedly said that after millions of births, a man realises himself and then only he wants to return to his origin i.e. The Paramatma. In Astrology, the consequence of any Bhava is judged from the 5th house therefrom. Again, in the physical life a living being finds its consequence through its offsprings. Therefore, a man in his physical being finds his consequence through his offsprings which is judged from the 5th house. The 5th house is also the significator of the deeper level of mind wherein is situated the regards i.e. Bhakti. It has been said in Hindu Philosophy as also in The Vaishnav Padabalis that it is through Bhakti alone that Lord Shree Krishna is available to a person. In accordance with this, it has been said that Vyas Deva after long years of academic culture ultimately took recourse to Bhakti Marga through Shree Modbhagabata. Therefore, the 5th house in the Zodiac viz. the sign Leo ruled by the Sun, the representative-cum-significator of Paramatma in our solar world signifies in the physical level the offsprings, in the mental level, the deeper level of mind having Bhakti therein and in the spiritual level the Paramatma Himself. So, the ultimate goal of a person after long journeys of repeated births realising his ultimate goal of unification with the origin i.e. Paramatma sets aside all His material links for getting united with the Parampurusha i.e. Lord Shree Krishna which has been described in sweet poetic language of Vaishnav Padabali wherein Shree Radha i.e. Jeevatma hearing the sounds of flute of her beloved Shree Krishna throws away all her shame, fear, social respect etc. for uniting with the beloved Shree Krishna. The 3rd sign of the Zodiac is Gemini signified by a couple playing music in instrument. The 3rd house signifies common sense, strength, courage, communication etc. Gemini, the mutable airy sign, is ruled by Mercury termed as child planet in Astrology. The sign is inimical for Mars which is highly significant inasmuch as in our ordinary sense. Mars is the significator of courage and strength. Therefore, the inimic nature of the sign Gemini for Mars signifies that in ideal case, it is not Martial nature which accords the native real strength. But it is childlike simplicity and purity which is the real source of strength and courage unto which all evil forces have to bow down. The 4th sign counted from Gemini is Virgo - a sign also ruled by Mercury but this time a mutable earthy sign and the sign of exaltation for Mercury. Being the 4th house from Gemini, Virgo signifies the house of rest and happiness for childlike simplicity and therefore here Mercury is practical and involved in earthly matters excluding mere inquisitive intellect. The 6th sign signifies natural instincts i.e. Shararipus but in Sattwick modes and therefore it is the sign of debilation for Venus, the significator for all earthly desires related to money and lust signified by the 2nd sign Taurus and the 7th sign Libra both ruled by Venus. This signifies that to maintain an ideal life, the Shararipus instead of being suppressed should be utilised in a Sattwick fashion keeping the earthly desires and lust under control for the establishment of Supreme Lord’s Kingdom on the earth as was done by Shree Hanuman in the Treta Yuga utilising his sacred anger for the interest of his Master Shree Rama Chandra and also in the present era by Shree Shree Ramkrishna Paramhansadeva and also by Param Premomoya Shree Shree Thakur Anukul Chandra maintaining ideal domestic life to set examples before their followers as to how to utilise lust in Sattwick mode for the establishment of Supreme Lord’s Kingdom on the earth. It is to be particularly noted that Venus, the significator of all earthly desires and lust, is exalted in the 12th sign Pisces, a Sattwick dual and watery sign ruled by Jupiter, the Deva Guru. The 12th house signifies expenses, sacrifice for others, freedom from all earthly ties etc. this means that wealth and lust find their best utilisation through sacrifices for the benevolence of others which ultimately leads to freedom from all earthly desires resulting in unison with the Supreme Lord. The 9th sign Saggitarious, the dual fiery sign of Sattwick nature is also ruled by Jupiter. But the difference between Saggitarious and Pisces lies in the fact that while Saggitarious is of Kshatriya Varna i.e. warrior in nature, Pisces is of Vipro Varna i.e. of Brahminik nature involved in academic culture, meditation etc. The 4th house counted from Saggitarious is Pisces which means that the warrior nature of Jupiter is submerged in rest in the water of Pisces and thereby resulting in the arousal of Brahminik culture through meditation as happened in the case of the King Vishwamitra who ultimately turned to Vishwamitra Muni through his untiring Tapasya. The very significant characteristic of the Zodiac is that Jupiter and Saturn have no role in the first two quadrupeds but the 3rd quadruped starting from Saggitarious is ruled by Jupiter and Saturn only. The 9th sign i.e. Saggitarious, the positive sign of Jupiter signifies Dharma i.e. what helps to maintain the Divine creation, Vivek i.e. consciousness, Guru i.e. who enlightens the native arousing the inner vision to find the real path of life course. The 2nd house from Saggitarious is Capricorn, cardinal earthy sign ruled by Saturn. The 2nd house signifies accumulated wealth which means Dharma results in the accumulated wealth in the form of characteristic of Capricorn which being the 10th sign of the Zodiac signifies activities of the native signified by Aries, the ruler of which Mars finds itself exalted in Capricorn the explanation of which has already been provided in the foregoing paragraph. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn which is significator of servant, hermits, depressed and common people etc. The significance of this is that all activities should be for the service of others and without any personal desire of benefits as is the nature of a hermit. The 3rd house from Saggitarious which is also the 2nd house from Capricorn is Aquarious, also ruled by Saturn, but this time it is the positive sign of Saturn, fixed and airy in nature. The 3rd house signifies strength and the 2nd house the accumulated wealth. This means that the strength of Dharma and the accumulated wealth of sacrificing and impersonal activities of the native result in the characteristics of Aquarious which being the 11th sign of the Zodiac signifies earnings of the native in the present birth, both in material aspect as well as in intellectual aspect. But this sign being also ruled by Saturn, the hermit, the earnings of the native as well as the intellectual activities are also for the benevolence of the world. This is exemplified by the life of Karl Marks, the great social philosopher, Shree Shree Ramkrishna Paramhansa Deva etc. The symbol of Aquarious is a man bearing a large pitcher filled with water on his shoulder which means that an Aquarian native has to provide the needs of people suffering from thirst arising out of earthly desires. The last i.e. the 12th sign of the Zodiac is Pisces symbolised by a pair of fish facing each other in a current of water which is a river. The sign is ruled by Jupiter and is a dual watery sign of Sattwa Guna. It is the 4th sign counted from Saggitarious, the 7th sign from Virgo, the 8th sign from Leo, the 9th sign from Cancer, the 10th sign from Gemini, the 11th sign from Taurus and the 12th sign from Aries. It is also the 5th sign from Scorpio, the 3rd sign from Capricorn and the 2nd sign from Aquarious. Being the last sign of the Zodiac, it signifies the end of the journey of a soul in the present birth in an ideal case. Being the 12th sign from Aries, it signifies the drowning of the ego of Mars, the ruler of Aries, in the pleasure of self-realisation or wisdom of Jupiter in this watery sign. Being the 11th sign from Taurus, it signifies the success of accumulated wealth for the sake of benevolence of others. Being the 10th sign from Gemini, it signifies the highest achievement of the intellect of Mercury in the self-realisation signified by Pisces. Being the 9th sign from the Cancer, it signifies the origin of real happiness in life because Cancer is ruled by Moon, the disciple of Jupiter and being the watery sign signifying the sea, it signifies that Deva Guru Jupiter leaving his river- signifying residence in Pisces expresses himself happily in the greater environment of ocean where his disciple Moon accepts him to give happiness to the world. Being the 8th sign from Leo, the royal sign ruled by the creator Sun, the fixed fiery sign of Raja Guna signifies that the king like personality of Leo submerges in the self-realisation of the water of the sign Pisces arising out of the wisdom of Jupiter, the ruler. Being the 7th sign i.e. the house of detriment from the 6th sign Virgo of the Zodiac, it signifies that the earthly desires, commonly termed as Sharha ripus are destroyed in the wisdom and self-realisation signified by Jupiter in the watery sign Pisces. Being the 6th sign from Libra, it signifies that it is the inimical house for the lust signified by Libra and also the house of recovery from the disease originated from this lust. Being the 5th sign from Scorpio, the 8th sign of the Zodiac signifying the house of rest of the soul signified by Leo, it signifies that from rest or sleep, the soul finds itself expressed in the self-realisation in the current of water signified by Pisces ruled by Jupiter. Being the 4th sign from Saggitarious, the warrior sign of dual fiery nature signifying Dharma, Consciousness etc. it signifies the house of rest of the warrior after his continuous struggle against all evil forces in the self-realisation signified by the sign Pisces, the negative or the passive field of Jupiter. Being the 3rd sign from Capricorn, the cardinal earthy sign ruled by Saturn, it signifies the strength acquired by virtue of sacrificing and servant like activities. Being the 2nd sign from Aquarious, the fixed airy sign of Raja Guna ruled by Saturn signifying hermit like meditation for the benevolence of the common people, it signifies the accumulated wealth of this saint- like meditation resulting in the self-realisation awarded by the Deva Guru Jupiter. Thus, in an ideal case it signifies the completion of journey of an individual soul or Jeevatma whereafter it sub-mergers in the realisation of the self identified with the Supreme Soul or Paramatma through the wisdom of Jupiter.

Astrology :- In Dispute, Reality and Essence.
In recent era, Astrology has become one of the most disputed as well as cultured subject. The word “Astrology”, in fact, does not carry the real significance of the subject. Rather, the Sanskrit word “Jyotish-Shastra” carries it which means a subject that finds “Jyoti” or “Light” in the human life awarded by the Supreme Soul for taking each individual part of “Him” back to the destiny i.e. to get unified with the Supreme Soul after series of long journies through repeated births and enjoying material lives composed of six instincts and ultimately realising the essence of God gifted life. This is reflected in the Astrological significance of the Zodiac itself divided into twelve signs composed of 27 constellations but having no planet inside this. The planets in our solar system actually signify the complexes that compel human being to be involved in earthly activities for satisfaction of various passions and desires resulting in consecutive births. And here lies the root of all disputes regarding the underlying truth of Astrology. The interest towards Astrology of the mankind as a whole probably finds its origin from the very early stage of civilisation in different countries all over the world and thenceforth the two classes have been demarcated as believers and non believers having reasonings in their favour according to their ideas. But the matter is neither of belief nor of non-belief. If the subject has really any base, non-belief of some classes of people of any category does not tell upon its base and the reverse is also true for believers. In recent times, people in general may be classified into three groups depending on their views and actions in respect of Astrology. The first group includes those who do not accept any astrological prediction without having any Sanskrit sloka in favour, but they do not realize that it may not be availble in the ancient scripts or it may be very likely that such scripts might have been destroyed under any situation whatsoever. They also think that Astrology would be degraded if raised to the status of Science while thoughts of the second group are of opposite nature inasmuch as levelling Astrology to the status of Science would degrade Science from its esteemed position. The third category consists of people who, irrespective of their views and beliefs, utilise this subject for commercial purposes with very limited and in many cases wrong conceptions only for jewellary business and in consequence misguide people.Now-a-days it has been more populer to perform some ritulas or “yagna” for minimising the malefic influence of some evil planets in their opinion and to bring the progress and all round development of the wretched client, in any sense. In addition, now-a-days another saleable material has been introduced in the market by some groups of commercial astrologers in the name of “Jantram” as the remedy for different purposes. And here lies the root of all disputes regarding this Divine subject in the present era. Let us now examine the objections put forth against this Divine subject. Consideration of Astrology as something Holy by the first group excludes everything if not supported by any “sloka” in Sanskrit and this process of elimination has ultimately resulted in the closure of doors to the light of modern scientific truth barring thereby the entrance of new ideas for development of this esteemed subject. Not only they confine themselves in the narrow sphere of conservatisim, but also include many Astrological Formulae which have no rational basis in view of fundamental principles of Astrology and also contradictory to one another. In this context, readers are requested to go through the works titled “Falit Jyotisher Mool Sutra” by the eminent researcher Jyoti Bachaspati as also a book titled “ Some Fundamentals Of Astrology” written by this humble author. The second group consists of people having pseudo-scientific outlook who exert utmost effort so that Astrology may not be considered as science as if science would be seriously degraded due to the inclution of Astrology in this realm. These people do not know what the term “SCIENCE” actually means, but take technology as synonimus with science. As the consequence, science, in the true sense of the word, is being deprived of the enoromous wealth that Astrology can furnish towards very speedy development of different branches of science. The word “Science” actually points to the fact that keen observation would reveal that there is an underlying link among all the terrestrial phenomena and it is the task of Science to find these links and to predict the existence of yet undiscovered phenomena and also to create newer phenomena in the laboratory and here lies the probability of contribution of Astrology towards the further progress of different branches of Science if accepted by the Scientists keeping aside the pseudo-scientific outlook and neglence towards this Divine subject. The third group of people can be identified with the jewel merchants for selling jewelary stones as so called remedial mesures of clients and also for conducting so called Yagnas for the same purpose without having any authority in these activities. Perhaps, this constitutes the major part of Astrological business and therefore in consequence leads to disbelief of people of all spheres in this Divine subject. Now, let us cosider the reality underlying this subject. It is based on the Zodiac and the planets of our solar system moving on the background of the Zodiac in their own orbits. The Zodiac is an eight degree belt on either side of the ecliptic and containing within the 27 constellations and divided into 12 equal parts, each being of thirty degree span and termed as sign. It is presumed that the cosmic emanations from the individual signs as well as from the planets including some mathematical points influence the human life as well as the various terresterial phenomena thereby determining the course of each individual life in the present birth and also in the subsequent births according to the Hindu philosophy. This is, in short, the reality of the Astrological predictions of the personal and terresterial phenomena. Now we shall try to realised the essence of this Divine subject. The Zodiac itself excluding the planets and the mathemetical points moving on its background is actually the course of human life that should be followed by each individual as desired by the Supreme Lord. In this connection, the readers may go through the book titled “Some Fundamentals Of Astrology” written by this humble author. But the planets moving on the background of the Zodiac in their own orbits represent in essence the various complexes that play within each individual giving birth to the earthly desires that detract the individuals from the Holly Path of God leading to series of consecutive births for suffering from the consequences thereof till the native realises that it is only God or Basudeva who is the real target of human life as spoken by Shree Basudeva Himself in the Shreemadbhagabat Gita when the native being free from all complexses is returned to the Supreme Lord for eternal rest. The mechanism of the planetary influences for controling the human lives is a subject of extensive research work in different branches of science which cannot be taken up here in this limited space and will be dealt with in some subsequent works of mine. But before that the scientific basis underlying Astrology may be considered. In Newtonin mechanics, space and time were considered to be independent of each other. But after the propagation of Einstein’s Theory Of Relativity , the concept of space-time continum was introduced. As the result, the existence of 3-Dimensional object was replaced by 4-Dimensional events. As Eddington put it in his famous works “Space, Time and Gravitation” – “Events do not happen, they are just there and we come across them.” So it is clear that events which are pre-determined appear to us as we move along the time axis and this is the basis of Astrology. And, therefore, human querries will naturally seek for the future and for this Astrology serves as the proper instrument. Although out of context, it may not be out of place to mention that Palmistry which is also considered as another instrument to foretell the individual future as also the past is actually not a separate system for this purpose, but it is appropriate to designate Palmistry as a translation of Astrology in a different language. But its limitation is that while Astrology can predict not only the individual life course of a native, but also all its relatives and friends as well as the ancestors and the future generations together with the natural phenomena and different aspects all over the world, Palmistry is restricted to the individual life course. For reference, the interested readers may go through the works titled “Some Fundamental Of Astrology” written by this humble author. The scope of Astrology is so vast that almost every sector of life and Science may be co-related with Astrology, which will be discussed in my subsequent works titled “An Integrated Theory Of Astrology”. But it may be mentioned that the Dasa system used in Hindu Astrology for predicting the time of occurrence of events in individual life should be deeply taken into account for co-relating with modern theory of Physics. And for this, what is needed is to come forward by the persons of real scientific outlook keeping aside all biased superstitions to ignore Astrology keeping in mind that if Astrology be discarded for failure of some predictions by some self-advertised astrologers, the successful predictions of many other cases should also be taken into account for understanding the underlying truth. It should also be borne in mind that in the history of Science all new and venturing ideas had to face obstructions from the prevailing conceptions of the contemporary period, but ultimately the old conceptions were but to make way for the new ideas. If this be borne in mind, the present day Scientists should take their appropriate role to discover the huge wealth stored in the mines of Astrology to enrich the human civilisation throwing of any pre-determined antagonastic views regarding Astrology and for this, they will be awarded in due course by the eternal Time undoubtedly. In this matter the different Hindu Puranas should also be taken into account for finding the predictions made by the different Deities and Rishis regarding the happenings prevailing in the present day era as a tool in support of Astrology. And for this no individual effort is capable, but a devoted team work comprised of specialists in different branches of Science and Philosophy is needed to explore the reality and essence of Astrology. And this is the humble appeal of this scribe to the Scientist Community.

Astrological justification for the different houses signifying education
Academic achievement which is usually identified with the term “Education” is a three layered process. The first stage is based on memory, the second based on merits and intelligence while the third on higher intelligence and wisdom. In addition, some fields of education are related with jobs undertaken by the native.
Memory based education starts from the very childhood in the
domestic atmosphere. During this period, a child in his domestic circle follows
the behavior of others and particularly from the mother. During this period,
the child tries to copy whatever he comes across or listens. In the childhood,
the sensitivity of the native is very high which makes the native conscious
about his family and greater environment and this makes the basis of the
primary education. The fourth house in a natal chart signifies home, family,
mother, mind etc. In the Zodiac, the relevant sign is Cancer, the cardinal
watery sign of Tamas nature ruled by Moon. Moreover, Cancer is the sign of
exaltation for Jupiter and the inimical sign for Mercury, the significator of
intelligence. In the planetary kingdom, Moon signifies mother, mind, family,
house, feelings and domestic happiness. Therefore, for the primary education
based on memory in the domestic atmosphere, a relation of the fourth house and
its lord in the natal chart together with the sign Cancer and its lord Moon is
evident. Moreover, Cancer is the sign of exaltation for Jupiter, the significator
of wisdom which means that the actual basis of knowledge starts through
feelings and sensitivity. But the sign Cancer being inimical for Mercury, it is
not helpful for development of sharp intelligence and rationality. Therefore,
it is quite justified that the memory based primary education is related with
the fourth house and its lord in the natal chart together with the sign Cancer
and its lord Moon.
After childhood, the education based on merit and
intelligence starts from the juvenile stage. Merit has two fold origin – the
first being hereditary and the second being the manifestation of the
accumulated result of deeds in previous incarnations according to Hindu
Philosophy. The hereditary expression is composed of the feelings and the
sensitivity earned from the mother and the intelligence together with brain
activity comes from the father. In the Zodiac, the significator of father is
the Sun which is the origin of the entire creation and terrestrial life in our
solar system. Therefore, Sun is considered as the father of the total living
beings on the earth. In the Zodiac, Sun rules over the fifth sign Leo which
determines merit, talent, fame as also offspring. Again, the accumulated
results of deeds in previous births is manifested in the third house of the
natal chart in the present birth in the form of common-sense, inquisitiveness,
intelligence etc. as signified by the third sign Gemini – dual airy sign of
Sattwik nature in the Zodiac ruled by Mercury. The prince of the planetary
kingdom Mercury is the significator of all these traits. The third sign counted
from the Gemini is Leo which therefore is the house of efforts and courage of
Sattwik intelligence. Further, the merit based education is judged from the
fifth house in the natal chart and therefore from the sign Leo in the Zodiac.
The fifth house is the significator of the consequence of the Ascendant which
also expresses itself in the form of offspring. The fifth house being the next
from the fourth house i.e. Cancer in the Zodiac ruled by Moon, it is apparent
that the merit based education originated from heredity and deeds in previous
births will start after memory based education signified by the fourth house
and the sign Cancer.
Therefore, the consequence of the merit based education will
be judged from the fifth house counted from the fifth house i.e. the ninth
house in the natal chart which in the Zodiac is the sign Saggitarius. This is
manifested in the form of wisdom having its origin two fold. The first is the
memory based education together with the merit based education together with
the experiences derived from the deeds in the present birth and the second is
the senses derived from the accumulated results in the previous births of the
native manifested in the present birth.
It has already been explained above that after the memory
based education in the childhood, the merit based education in the juvenile
stage is judged from the fifth house of the natal chart which in the Zodiac is
the sign Leo, the fixed fiery sign of Rajas nature ruled by the Sun, the origin
of the terrestrial creation and the significator of the father and the soul.
Therefore, the knowledge about Supreme Self has its seed in the sign Leo. The
fifth sign counted from Leo is Saggitarius - dual fiery sign of Sattwik nature
ruled by Jupiter and composed of three constellations of which the first is
Moola ruled by Ketu wherein the wisdom of Jupiter remains in latent form.
Therefore, the manifestation of merit as wisdom is established. Again, in a
natal chart, the job of the native is judged from the tenth house having its
origin in the ninth sign counted anti-clockwise from the tenth house i.e. the
sixth house in the natal chart and the highest expression of the tenth house
occurs in the tenth house counted from the tenth house i.e. the seventh house
in the natal chart. Therefore, for the best manifestation of job, the strength
required is to be judged from the third house counted from the seventh house
i.e. the ninth house in the natal chart. Further, the place of happiness of the
sixth house is the fourth house counted from the sixth house i.e. the ninth
house. Therefore, these two being superimposed in the ninth house, the latter
is the place of experiences derived from work done by the native in the life
time.
Again, the detrimental house of the physical body of a
native after death is the eighth house in the natal chart which in the Zodiac
is the sign Scorpio. After death, the ideas stored by the native in the brain
during life time are accumulated in the second house from the eighth house i.e.
the ninth house in the natal chart. In the Zodiac, the eighth sign Scorpio is
fixed watery sign of Rajas nature and the sign of debilation of Moon, the
significator of mind and feelings i.e. after death when all feelings appear to
be destroyed actually remain in a coiled form of a snake i.e. in the form of
Kulakundalini Sakti. Therefore, the ideas inherited from the previous
incarnations and the experiences together with merit acquired in the present
birth combinedly give rise to the wisdom of the native in the ninth house which
leads to research oriented advanced learning which ultimately results in the
form of the supreme knowledge developed in the native.
As mentioned above, work is judged in a natal chart from the
tenth house and therefore its consequence is to be judged from the fifth house
therefrom i.e. the second house in natal chart which is therefore the house of
experience derived from work done together with the results of the activities. The
fifth house counted from the second house i.e. the sixth house in the natal
chart signifies the consequence of this i.e. sensual feelings, energy for
activity etc. of which the consequence is the fifth sign counted therefrom i.e.
the tenth house. In other words, the accumulated results of deeds in one birth
are manifested in the form of work based education and the working ability
signified by the sixth house in the subsequent birth in the form of sensual
feelings. Therefore, the work based education is to be judged from the second
house in the natal chart which in the Zodiac is the sign Taurus – fixed, earthy
sign of Rajas nature – the passive field of the Demon Master Venus and the sign
of exaltation for Moon, the significator of feelings. It is, therefore, clear
that in a material field, the mental strength and the intuitions required for
activities for the purpose of material enjoyments in life are to be judged from
the sign Taurus in the Zodiac and therefore from the second house in the natal
chart.

Explanation for the maleficness of the third, sixth and eleventh lords in a natal chart
Virtue is what helps
the existence and progress of the self with the environment. Therefore,
anything antagonistic to this is vice. All the deeds of a native are controlled
by the complexes and the six instincts of a native. In the Shreemodbhagobat
Geeta, the Lord Krishna said “no body can live even for a single moment without
doing any work. Under the influences of the complexes and the instincts, the
native is compelled to do work every moment.” (Shreemodbhagobat Geeta, Chapter
3, Karma Yoga, Shloka 5). When these complexes become the driver for a native,
these act inimically. As such, the six instincts viz. Kama (lust), Krodha
(anger), Lobha (greed), Moha (obsession), Moda (pride), Matsayra (malice) are
combinedly described as six enemies. Of these, the most dominating are greed,
lust and pride. In the Zodiac, pride as well as self publicity and desire for
establishment are judged from the third house in the natal chart which in the
Zodiac is the sign Gemini ruled by Mercury. The complexes and the six instincts
are signified by the sixth house which in the natal chart is the sign Virgo
also ruled by Mercury. Income and finance are judged from the eleventh house
which in the Zodiac is the sign Aquarius ruled by Saturn. Since the Zodiac or
the Kalapurusha Chakra as it is said in Hindu Astrology represents the Creator
or the human being in general. Therefore, the different signs and their lords
of the Zodiac signify the balanced condition or the natural equilibrium of an
individual and human society in general. The lord of the third sign Gemini i.e.
Mercury being dual airy of Sattwik nature signifies inquisitiveness, child like
simplicity, intelligence etc. which actually determine the inherent strength
and personality of a native. Similarly, the sixth sign Virgo ruled by Mercury
being dual earthy sign of Sattwik nature signifies use of the six instincts and
the complexes in a idealistic manner. Mercury being the significator of the
nerve system in the body, inquisitiveness and desire for learning as well as
all activities are controlled by the nerve system. Again, the eleventh sign is
Aquarius which is fixed airy sign of Rajas nature and the Mool Trikona places
for Saturn and Rahu and therefore signifies huge income of money. Since Saturn
is the hermit planet and the significator of hard labour, it implies that
income should be done through diligence which makes the native appreciate the
real values and usage of money.
But when an
individual is controlled by the six instincts and the complexes, their effects
become adverse for the native. According to the sage Parashara “ In the Koli
Yuga when the vices are the controller, the benefic or malefic nature of the
planets for a native are not determined by their respective natural
characteristics, but by their relative positions and the rulership of the signs
with respect of the Ascendant.” Under the influence of these, the natural
benefic planets act adversely for some natives and the reverse is the case with
natural malefics. In other words, almost all individuals do not follow the
Divine Instructions of the Supreme Lord as written in the symbolic language of
the Zodiac excluding the stellar bodies which ultimately bring harm for the
individuals. For this, in this Kali Yuga mostly controlled by the vices of
Saturn, the significator of the third house is Mars that of the sixth house is
Venus and of the eleventh house is Rahu. In Mars, Tamasik ego is manifested in
full together with strong desires of self establishment and exposition without
limit which bring disaster to the environment and consequently to the native.
In accordance with this, the third sign Gemini in the Zodiac is the inimical
sign for Mars as the result of which its function becomes more adverse for the
native. Similarly, the sixth sign in the Zodiac is Virgo wherein the
significator Venus becomes debilated as the result of which the malefic effects
of Venus are more expressed here leading to harms to the native and to its
surroundings. Finally, the unbounded and uncontrolled greed of Rahu makes the
native without balance and consequently due to the abuses of illegal earnings
and material enjoyments, the native invites self destruction together with
harms to the surroundings.
For these reasons,
according to the sage Parashara, the lords of the third, sixth and eleventh
houses in a natal chart are considered as malefics for all.

Justification for judging father from the ninth and the tenth houses in a natal chart
In a natal chart,
the Ascendant and its lord signify the native. Therefore, according to
astrological principles, the ninth house from the Ascendant signifies the
origin and the fifth house the consequence of the native. In the Zodiac, the
life cycle is assumed to start in Aries. Therefore, its origin is at
Saggitarius and the consequence it Leo. Leo is fixed fiery sign of Rajas nature
ruled by the Sun which carries the seed of the terrestrial life. This seed is
manifested as life in the cardinal fiery sign of Tamas nature i.e. Aries
through the intermediate stage of the dual fiery sign Saggitarius of Sattwik
nature. Ninth house also signifies Guru i.e. Master, fate or fortune originated
from the previous lives, religion, conscience etc. Religion signifies what
maintains this huge creation of the universe and philosophically it also
signifies the Supreme Lord or God. The word “Guru” means who removes the
darkness of ignorance through sacrifice, devotion, conscience etc. which
actually indicate God. As such, God is also termed as Supreme Father i.e. Who
is the creator and the maintainer of this universe and the life cycle.
Therefore, in this sense, ninth house signifies, apart from God, the father who
gives birth to the native.
In an animal body,
the seed of the new life is sowed by the father in the womb of the mother. For
human beings, the mother is judged in a natal chart from the fourth house for a
male being and the tenth house for a female being which in the Zodiac are
represented by the signs Cancer and Capricorn respectively. Therefore, the
seventh house from the fourth house is the tenth house or vice-verse which
signifies the husband of the mother who in a normal case is the father of the
native. Moon itself is the significator of mother while the lord of the sign
Capricorn is Saturn signifying the Eternal Time which is responsible for the entire
creation and destruction. And in cases where the mother marries for the second
time, the father of the native is signified by the ninth house of its natal
chart.
Therefore, judging
father from the ninth and the tenth houses do not bear similarities in all
cases. Ninth house signifies the Supreme origin of creation i.e. God as well as
the earthly father in cases where the mother marries again after the birth of
the native but otherwise, the tenth house also signifies the seed-giver father
together with the ninth house also.

Explanation for the destructive functions of the lords of the second & the seventh houses in a natal chart
In Astrology, longevity cum death is judged from the eighth house and its lord in a natal chart as also the eighth house counted from the eighth house i.e. the third house in a natal chart. The twelfth house counted from the eighth house i.e. the seventh house signified the loss of longevity and so also the twelfth house from the third house i.e. the second house. Therefore, the second and the seventh houses are designated as significators of death. Of the two, the malefic influence of the second house and its lord is more than that of the seventh house and its lord. Therefore, the second house and its lord are termed as chief significators of death or “Primary Maraka” while the seventh house and its lord are designated as “Secondary Maraka”. The astrological explanation for this is that the seventh house being the detrimental place of the Ascendant signifies decay of body while the second house for the same reason signifies decay of longevity. Therefore, a native born in a higher longevity range can continue even with a decaying and physically incapable body but a native born in a lower longevity range can face death with an otherwise sound health. Such examples are very common in our daily life. The astrological explanation for this is furnished below: -
In ancient scripts, it is said that the one of the factors
influencing human longevity is the mode of living. Following pious i.e. Sattwik
mode of living increases longevity while excessive material enjoyments reduce
vitality of life resulting in death. In Astrology, Venus is the significator of
material enjoyments which owns the signs Taurus and Libra which are
respectively the second and the seventh sign of the Zodiac. The second house in
a natal chart signifies accumulated wealth, ornaments, face and all its
functions and the seventh house signifies lust, spouse, partner, environment
etc. Taurus is fixed earthy sign of Rajas nature and Libra the cardinal airy
sign of Tamas nature. Taurus is the negative or passive sign of Venus while
Libra is its positive and active sign. Therefore, Venus of Taurus signifies
self-centered material enjoyments while in Libra its desire for material
enjoyment is much refined and involved with the environment but since both the
signs signify material enjoyments and sensual pleasures, therefore both are
damaging for longevity i.e. significator of death. In the solar system also,
one of the chief enemies for the Sun, the origin of creation is Venus because
Sun belongs to the creative group and Venus to the destructive group. Venus
brings in death in guise of apparent pleasures. Consequently, in the Zodiac
Taurus and Libra as well as their lord Venus are treated as significator of
death. In accordance with this, the second and the seventh houses as also their
lords in a natal chart are considered as Marakas for a native. Again,
comparatively Taurus being the negative sign of Venus has the degree of
destructivity much more than that of Libra together with lack of refined
nature. On the contrary, Libra being the positive sign of Venus of airy nature
has the refined characteristics and maintains good relation with environment.
From material view point, financial strength is considered
as the most powerful in the present era. A sound financial capacity can bring
all sorts of material enjoyments and power to a native. But as it is said, too
much of anything brings destruction. Therefore, material enjoyments including
sensual pleasures and influence over the environment earned in lieu of money
ultimately invite destruction and death. Therefore, of the two maraka places
viz. the second and the seventh houses in a natal chart, the second house is
more destructive. Again, the second house signifies face and its functions viz.
intaking of food and delivery of speeches. Therefore, intaking of harmful food
in quality and quantity and delivery of unpleasing words to others creating
enemy result in huge loses and ultimately death. Moreover, the second house
signifying accumulated wealth is likely to create many enemies and causes huge
loss and ultimately death. Therefore, viewed in total, it may be said that the
malefic nature of the second house and its lord is more than that of the
seventh house and its lord. As such, the second house is termed as primary
maraka and the seventh house the secondary one.
Further in Astrology, a word “Karmayu” is used to signify
the life span which a native has to pass through till the completion of the
deeds the native has to perform in the present birth even if the native crosses
over the life span calculated mathematically according to Astrology. In a natal
chart, work is judged from the tenth house which in the zodiac is the tenth
sign Capricorn, cardinal earthy sign of Tamas nature, the negative field of the
ruler Saturn. The success of job is judged from the eleventh house counted from
the tenth house i.e. the eighth house of the natal chart which is again the
house of longevity cum death. In the Zodiac, it is the sign Scorpio. Since
Saturn signifies hermits and servants, therefore by virtue of devoted
activities without any personal desires increase longevity. Again, the fifth
house counted from the tenth house is the second house while the tenth house
counted from the tenth house i.e. the seventh house signifies the highest
expression of activities which means these two are respectively the primary and
the secondary Maraka places for the natal chart. In the Zodiac, the lords of
the corresponding two signs viz. Taurus and Libra is Venus which is an intimate
friend of Saturn. Therefore, good and devoted activities signified by the tenth
sign Capricorn influence beneficially the two signs Taurus and Libra thereby
reducing their malefic natures. The same argument holds for any natal chart.
In fine, it may therefore be concluded that the second and
the seventh houses and their lords in a natal chart are destructive for a
native of which is the second house is more harmful, but following a pious
living and performing good and devoted activities reduce the Maraka nature of
the two.

Astrological significance of designating Jupiter as the most benefic planet
According to Hindu Philosophy, the Supreme Being manifested
Himself in the entire creation originated from Himself and He enjoys Himself in
innumerable forms of living and non-living nature according to their
characteristics and the ultimate goal of every being is to return to its Origin
i.e. attainment of its Supreme Self. The main obstruction towards this course
is the interaction of the so called six enemies’ i.e. different complexes which result in the
interaction of a being with the environment leading to its deviation from the
path of eternal good. To overcome these obstacles, it is absolutely necessary
to follow the God-directed path of living.
According to Modern Physics, every being, animate or
inanimate always emits waves of certain definite frequency and the being
concerned is but an instantaneous projection of its characteristic wave bounded
by space and time. According to Hindu Philosophy, at the start of the Creation
when there was nothing in existence, the Supreme Sound came out from darkness
to start the creation. This Supreme Sound is the Brahma as defined in Hindu
Philosophy which means expansion and manifestation of the Supreme Being in
innumerable forms. At the start of the creation, the Supreme Wave was the
manifestation of the Brahma and this immediately started dividing himself in
various sub-waves which gave rise to different beings according to their
frequency and amplitude. The resultants of the various superimpositions of
these branch waves had different frequencies and amplitudes leading to
innumerable forms of living and non-living entities. The greater the
differences of the amplitudes and frequencies of these resultant waves from
those of the Supreme Waves, the greater will be the deviation of the individual
beings from the Supreme self. In other words, the natural difference thus
originated from the Supreme self forms the hard coating on each individual
being termed as the “Maya” or “Illusion” as said by some sages. The greater
this difference, the harder will be the coating on the individual resisting the
manifestation of the Supreme self within the individual being concerned.
Therefore, for the progress of the individual soul towards
attainment of Godhood, it is absolutely required to pierce the hard coating of
the “Maya” and realization of the self. In the language of Modern Physics, it
may be said that for a branch wave to attain the harmony with the original
Godly wave, it is necessary to reduce gradually the mutual interactions with
other branch waves and ultimately to brings it to the end.
In our solar system, the relative position of the planets
and other stellar bodies with respect to the earth is: - Sun – Mercury – Venus
– Earth – Mars – Jupiter – Saturn. Since Sun is the origin of terrestrial life,
therefore Saturn remaining at the extreme opposite end is assumed as the
significator of destruction. Mercury and Venus remaining between the Sun and
the Earth create obstruction for the continuance of life; similarly Mars and
Jupiter remaining between Earth and Saturn cause obstacles towards destruction.
If we divide the Zodiac into three equal parts starting from Aries, it is
assumed that the portion from Aries to Cancer signifies the first part of life,
portion from Leo to Scorpio signifies the middle part and the remaining portion
from Saggitarius to Pisces signifies the last part of life. The chief ruler of
the first two parts is the Sun assisted by Moon, the child planet Mercury, the
young planet Mars and lastly Venus, the significator of material enjoyments and
the life period between youth and middle age. Under their influences, a native
starting from birth up to the middle age acquires huge experiences through the
activities for existence and expansion combined with fulfillment of material
desires. These experiences produce results in the last part of life covered by
Saggitarius to Pisces. The cream of such experiences gathered up to the middle
age are stored as wisdom under the influence of the old planet Jupiter which is
also the significator of extracting and thereafter assimilating the substance
of all foods intaken by the native. After this, the wisdom thus acquired
results in the feelings of the mortality of the earthly life and thus helps to
attain spiritual consciousness which gradually leads the native towards
salvation cum liberation from earthly complexes signified in Pisces ruled by
Jupiter, the Master of the deities.
The ninth sign of the Zodiac is Saggitarius, the positive
sign of Jupiter wherein are judged religion, Guru i.e. Master, conscience etc. Jupiter
of Saggitarius engages the native in organizational work for the good of the
human being which maintains the creation and which is actually termed as
religion. From the wisdom of this sign develop in a native the activities without
any personal attachment which are signified by Saturn and the sign Capricorn. Realizations
and experiences gathered from such activities are accumulated in the form of
wisdom and instincts signified by Saturn of Aquarius which are expressed in the
form of common-sense and intuition in the next birth. The ultimate result of
such accumulated wisdom and instincts are liberation from the complexes leading
to Moksha i.e. unification with the Supreme Soul signified by Jupiter of the
sign Pisces, the dual negative sign of watery nature wherein the individual
soul remains with the Supreme Soul in opposition at Supramental level. The
third sign from Saggitarius i.e. the field of courage is Aquarius which is
actually the wisdom at its highest level when the native identifying himself
with the entire universe takes the responsibility to carry the entire load of
the world signified by the symbol of Aquarius and through these activities
gradually develops the sacred desire to devote himself to the Supreme Soul
signified by the negative sign of Jupiter i.e. Pisces.
According to Astrology, there are both similarities and
dissimilarities between Jupiter and Saturn. In Astronomy, both are designated
as superior planets situated on the same side of the earth. Jupiter enriches
the native with wisdom which is the reality of the universe through Supreme
Pleasures. From Jupiterian angle of view, the world is the manifestation of the
ever blissful pleasures. But Saturn on the other hand, exposes to the native
the other side of the absolute truth of life through sorrows. The mortality and
sorrowful experiences of the native endowed by Saturn help the native to be
purified being freed from all complexes and then and then only the wisdom of
Jupiter gives the native the light of immortality and the ultimate significance
of this creation. According to Astrology, Jupiter is the old planet while
Saturn the very old and therefore the mortality of this earthly life and the
immortality of the soul are realized on the verge of old age when the passions
of youth combined with earthly desires come to the end i.e. the influences of
Mars and Venus become fainter and fainter.
According to optics, in the solar spectrum Jupiter rules
over the yellow band and Saturn the violet band i.e. from the middle of the
spectrum the regions ruled by these two planets are on either side. Therefore,
these two regions influence a native in opposite senses. A native ruled by
Jupiter feels the existence of inherent blissful pleasures of the Supreme Soul
in everything while to a native ruled by Saturn the same world appears to
present itself in the form of sorrows. In other words, a Jupiterian native
experiences the positive side of life while a Saturnine observes the negative
side of the same.
Analysis of the solar spectrum shows that the two opposite
ends are covered by the red and the violet regions. Wave length of the red band
being more, the frequency is less and the reverse is the case with violet
region. For the creation of life, the waves of the red region are necessary and
for destruction the same of violet region is required. The region covered by
Jupiter stands approximately midway between the two while the exact middle
region i.e. green band is ruled by Mercury signifying new creation. These two
bands viz. green and yellow influence the two ends. Of the two, the band ruled
by Jupiter has wave length less than that of green band and therefore its
penetrating power is more and consequently its neutralizing capacity is higher
but the indigo band ruled by Venus is in the vicinity of violet region and
therefore has its destructive capacity higher than that of Mercury. The wave
length of the violet band being less than that of blue band, the destructive
capacity of the latter is expressed through delicate feelings of apparent
happiness. It, therefore, appears that the band ruled by Jupiter can neutralize
to a large extent the destructive influences of other bands and therefore helps
the creative function of the solar spectrum. This is of course totally
experienced when Jupiter is not afflicted by malefics in a natal chart i.e. the
influence of this band is not badly interfered by other bands. Therefore, it
may be concluded that the benefic influence of Jupiter is the most in the
planetary kingdom so far as an individual life is concerned.
