Analysis for the mutual relations between Moon and Mercury

According to Hindu Mythology, the illegal son of Moon is Mercury. According to astrological principles, Mercury is not the enemy of Moon but the reverse is not true i.e. Moon is described as the enemy of Mercury. The Hindu Mythology may be explained as Moon being the father of Mercury bears no enmity for the son out of paternal affection but Mercury bears an enmity or adverse outlook for Moon because of his giving the illegal birth of Mercury. According to astrological principles, Moon signifies the upper layer of mind related with wild emotions whereas Mercury signifies common-sense, child like simplicity and inquisitiveness, rationality, analytical power etc. For any successful and honest effort in life, emotion is extremely necessary but it must be balanced by material rationality; otherwise unbalanced blind emotion is very likely to result in destruction. Therefore, it is clear that emotion must be balanced with rationality derived from Sattwik sense
In the Zodiac, Moon rules over the sign Cancer, the cardinal watery sign of Tamas nature. And of the two signs ruled by Mercury, the third sign of the Zodiac is Gemini, dual airy sign of Sattwik nature while the sixth sign Virgo is dual earthy sign of Sattwik nature. Water and Earth are quite in harmony from the elemental point of view but this is not so for Water and Air. As such, the relation between the signs Cancer and Virgo is third/eleventh i.e. mutually helping but the same between Cancer and Gemini is second/twelfth i.e. is an unfavorable one. In explanation, it may be said that emotion and material rationality are mutually helpful for their expression but the same is not true, rather damaging for each other in the relation between childish inquisitiveness and emotion, because in that case if the childish queries be overshadowed by emotion, it may invite troubles for the native and also for the environment.
In Astrological classification of planets, strong Moon is creative while weak Moon and Mercury are destructive. Therefore, excessiveness of emotion due to strong Moon is damaging for the rationality of Mercury belonging to destructive group but when emotion is diminished due to the influence of weak Moon, it is controllable by intelligence and rationality of Mercury. In other words, weak Moon and Mercury belonging to the same destructive group become mutually helpful for each other.

Analysis for the mutual relations of the signs owned by Mercury and Jupiter

In the Zodiac, Mercury rules over the signs Gemini and Virgo while for Jupiter, these are Saggitarius and Pisces. All the four signs are dual in nature of Sattwa Guna but Gemini is airy in nature, Virgo earthy, Saggitarius fiery and Pisces watery. The elements fire and air being helpful for each other, the positions of the two signs Gemini and Saggitarius in mutual seventh relation is justified. Similar is the case with Virgo and Pisces in mutual seventh relation being earthy and watery respectively. Again, according to astrological principles, these four signs remain in mutual angular relation as the result of which they help one other through exchange of energy.
Gemini being the third sign of the Zodiac signifies common-sense, inquisitiveness, valour, strength etc. while the ninth sign Saggitarius signifies wisdom, religious consciousness, sublimation and depth of mind etc. Mercury is designated as child planet as well as prince in the planetary kingdom since it is closest to the king Sun, both physically and functionally. Since inquisitiveness is maximum in a child, therefore selection of Mercury as the lord of the third sign Gemini is quite justified. The third sign also signifies arm strength because the prince is supposed to have it in full. But on the other hand, a proverb says that strength of intelligence is maximum rather than the arm strength and the same is also signified by the third sign as well as Mercury. Again, all sorts of queries and inquisitiveness when satisfied i.e. find their ends, it is wisdom signified by Jupiter and the ninth sign Saggitarius evolves. This is quite in accordance with the astrological principles that the seventh sign counted from any Bhava is the house of detriment for the characteristics of that Bhava. Consequently, this leads to the sublimation of consciousness as is signified by the symbol of the sign Saggitarius. Therefore, the relation of the signs Gemini and Saggitarius in opposition to each other is quite justified.
The fourth sign counted from Gemini is Virgo which being the sixth sign of the Zodiac signifies complexes, passions, material rationality, job instincts etc. In this sign, the common-sense of Gemini gets matured in its nearest angle i.e. fourth house; together with this, the passions latent in the child have evolved in the form of job instincts. It means that this sign Virgo is also controlled by Mercury because in this sign, the first half of life cycle is completed. As such, Mercury has evolved from the child to the youth and therefore is closer to the king or the father signified by Sun rather than in Gemini.
The seventh sign counted from Saggitarius is Gemini and the tenth is Virgo. The queries and inquisitiveness are ended in the wisdom of Saggitarius. Similarly, the material rationality combined with Sattwik instincts and complexes of Virgo are concentrated in the form of wisdom of Saggitarius, the first angle counted from Virgo and on this basis Dharma or religion which is the force of maintenance of the Creation is evolved in Saggitarius. Thus, the characteristics of Saggitarius viz. religion, conscience, wisdom, Guru or the Master etc. as signified by Jupiter, the mater of the Deities are justified.
The twelfth sign of the Zodiac is Pisces, dual watery sign of Sattwa Guna. It is the tenth sign from Gemini, seventh sign from Virgo and the fourth sign from Saggitarius. The twelfth house in a natal chart signifies bed comforts, sacrifice, Moksha or liberation from complexes. Pisces is signified by a pair of fishes swimming in opposite directions in the depth of a river which means the actions and reactions of two opposite forces leading to continuous conflicts in the Creation giving rise to the terrestrial phenomenon. Being the tenth sign of Gemini, the common-sense and inquisitiveness of Mercury find the highest expression in Pisces. Since the highest form of queries is in self realization, therefore the lord of Pisces should be Jupiter. Again, being the seventh sign from Virgo, the sign Pisces is characterized by the detriment of physical pleasures, complexes, materialistic rationality etc. which is actually the trait of Moksha because when complexes and desires for material enjoyments are totally satisfied, the native experiences the self realization leading to Moksha. So, in this respect also the lordship of Jupiter for Pisces is justified. Further, counted from Saggitarius, Pisces is the fourth sign which signifies happiness. This implies that sense of religion, conscience, wisdom etc. manifested in Saggitarius actually find their real place of pleasure through liberation from complexes signified by Pisces. The sublimed consciousness manifested in dual, fiery and Sattwik Saggitarius remains in peace of rest in two opposing waves of life and death in the depth of water signified by Pisces. In other words, Pisces signifies the best place of peace for the wisdom of Jupiter signified in Saggitarius.
Therefore, it is seen that in order of sequence the two signs Gemini and Virgo of the first half of Zodiac are ruled by Mercury while Saggitarius and Pisces of the second half are ruled by Jupiter. Its implication is in the start of life cycle expressed in Aries, the queries and inquisitiveness of child Mercury are converted into wisdom and conscience of middle-aged Jupiter. Similarly, the complexes and instincts combined with materialistic rationality developed in the young Mercury of Virgo are ended in the liberation from complexes leading to Moksha signified by the old Master of Deities viz. Jupiter as the lord of Pisces.
It is to be noted that all these four signs are dual and Sattwik in nature. This signifies that characteristics manifested in these four signs are developed due to the interactions of two opposite forces to maintain the Creation resulting in Sattwik pleasure or happiness.
Again, as is normal in the Zodiac, the fiery and the airy signs are in the mutual seventh position and similar is the case with the earthy and watery signs. It signifies that for spreading of fire, assistance of air is essential and similarly to increase the fertility of earth, water is essential. Accordingly, for the progress of wisdom queries and inquisitiveness are essential and the wisdom acquired in one birth reappears as common-sense in the following incarnation according to the doctrine of deeds and reincarnation. In other words, the fiery and the airy signs are mutually helpful for any birth. Similarly, the complexes combined with sensuality and Sattwik material senses require liberation from complexes for their successful attainment. Therefore, the earthy qualities manifested in Virgo require the help of water of the sign Pisces signifying Moksha for best utilization. Therefore, it appears from the above considerations that these four signs viz. Gemini, Virgo, Saggitarius and Pisces are justifiably located in mutual quadrants in the Zodiac.

Explanation for the selection of Jupiter as the lords of the ninth & twelfth signs of the Zodiac

The ninth sign of the Zodiac is Sagittarius, dual fiery sign of Sattwik nature symbolized by a hybrid of which the lower part is of horse and the upper part of man having in hands bow and arrow directed upwards. The significance of this symbol is that in the creation, the being crossing the stage of animal-hood attained manhood with the fixed target moving in the upward direction for attaining godhood. The seed of the creation lies in the fixed fiery sign Leo ruled by the Sun, the origin of terrestrial life. The starting point of life cycle in Astrology is taken as the first point of Aries, the cardinal fiery sign of Tamas nature. Between the fixed fiery sign Leo and the cardinal fiery sign Aries there is a transition stage of dual fiery sign Sagittarius. In the ninth house of a natal chart are judged religion, conscience, wisdom, stoicism, Guru i.e. Master etc. It signifies that the origin of life lies in Dharma and Sattwik wisdom signified by the goddess Saraswati. Again, religion in embodied form is Guru who enlightens the human life removing the darkness of ignorance. In the planetary kingdom, Jupiter is said to be the Guru of the gods the characteristics of whom are totally manifested in the sign Sagittarius. As such, the selection of Jupiter as the lord of the sign Sagittarius is quite justified.
The twelfth sign of the Zodiac is Pisces, dual watery sign of Sattwik nature symbolized by a pair of fishes swimming in opposite directions in deep water of river. It signifies that in this sign the human soul is in eternal play with the Supreme Soul. The twelfth house signifies sacrifice, emancipation i.e. Moksha i.e. liberation from the complexes. The fourth sign counted from Sagittarius is Pisces which means that the Jupiterian wisdom of active fiery sign Sagittarius after crossing the two saturnine signs Capricorn and Aquarius has been converted into realization of the Supreme Soul. The eighth sign of the Zodiac is Scorpio from which the fifth sign i.e. the house of expression is Pisces. The significance of this is that the accumulated Karma Phala of previous births finds the highest manifestation in the dual watery sign Pisces wherein the individual soul being freed from all complexes gets unified with the Supreme Soul and at that stage the complex free soul or the Mukta Purusha appear as the Guru in order to take other souls above the levels of animal-hood and manhood to rise to the level of godhood since the highest expression of the sign Pisces is in the 10th sign counted from it i.e. the sign Sagittarius, the active field of Deva Guru Jupiter. Therefore, the selection of Jupiter as the lord of the sign Pisces is quite justified.
The consequence of the sign Sagittarius is in the fifth sign from it i.e. Aries, cardinal fiery sign of Tamas nature ruled by Mars signifying the start of life whereas that of the sign Pisces is the fifth sign from it viz. Cancer, cardinal watery sign of Tamas nature ruled by Moon which is the significator of mind and feelings. The significance of this is that the Jupiter of Pisces finds his consequence in the psychic level through the unbound emotions. It means the seed of creation inherent in the sign Leo out of its desire to express itself in many ways takes the help of Jupiter of Sagittarius for organizing and driving force to effect the start of life in Aries and at the latter stage, the inherent wisdom of Jupiter in Pisces is expressed in Tamasik sign Cancer through unbound emotions and feelings. Again, the 10th sign from Pisces is Sagittarius where the Deva Guru Jupiter keeping away his intrinsic meditation expresses himself through active energy for finding the mankind the proper way to rise to the level of godhood. This is exemplified in Hindu Mythology in a war against the demons where the charioteer of Indra, the king of gods was the Deva Guru Jupiter. Again, in ancient ages, the councilor or adviser of the kings in war and peace were the sages and therefore the selections of Jupiter as the lords of Sagittarius and Pisces are quite justified.

Explanation for selection of Mercury as the lord of Gemini and Virgo

The third sign of the Zodiac is Gemini, dual airy sign of Sattwik nature. The third house signifies common-sense, inquisitiveness, voice etc. The symbol of the sign is a couple engaged in musical activity. It signifies that this sign will have an oscillating tendency and attraction towards artistic activities. Being the airy sign, the native will be of light nature. Mercury is termed as child planet in the planetary kingdom and therefore like a child, a native born under this sign will have keen inquisitiveness to understand the world and also attraction to insignificant pleasures. This means that instead of having a fixed target, such a native will be of vibrating nature. This shows that the characteristics of Mercury are completely befitting with those of the third house and the sign Gemini. Again, the third house also signifies efforts, courage, communication, personal strength etc. One of the characteristics of child is that it never becomes despaired in the face of repeated obstructions in its activities like sports. Again, out of immature sense, a child plunges into danger being ignorant of the consequences which is also in harmony with the function of child planet Mercury. Again in the planetary kingdom, Mercury is termed as the prince because of its orbit being closest to the Sun. As the instructions of the king are communicated through the prince, in the solar system Mercury does the same. Again, Mercury is the significator of nerve system having its origin in the brain signified by the Sun. Since, the instructions of the brain are communicated to different parts of the body through the nerve system, therefore the third sign also signifies the communication system and its lord is Mercury. Again, after an individual soul assumes a body in an incarnation, it starts taking food for the nourishment of the body and thereafter within it develop child like queries, tendency to understand the surroundings and to communicate with others. This means that the selection of Mercury as the lord of the third sign Gemini after the second sign Taurus is quite justified.
The sixth sign of the Zodiac is Virgo, the dual earthy sign of Sattwik nature. The sixth house signifies all the complexes, instincts, enemies etc. In fact, the real enemies of an individual are the six complexes derived out of the animal instincts which compel the native to be engaged in different activities. This has been uttered in Shreemodbhavadgeeta wherein the Lord Krishna told Arjuna “No body can exist idle for a single moment since it is the natural instincts which will lead the native to engage himself in different activities” (Chapter III, Karmayoga Shloka 5).
The tenth sign of the Zodiac is Capricorn, the cardinal earthy sign of Tamas nature wherein are judged karmas or activities. The origin of the sign Capricorn is the ninth sign therefrom in the anti-clockwise direction i.e. the sign Virgo which means that the source of all activities are the complexes and the instructions of such activities are originated in the brain, the lord of which is the Sun, the source of the earthly creations. These instructions of the brain are conveyed to the different parts of the body at physical and mental planes through the nerve system, the significators of which are Mercury and Saturn. Mercury is the controller of the intelligence and in the physical world its medium is sensual feelings. Again, the development of proper sensations and intelligence is possible out of impartial material sense controlled by Sattwik feelings which are quite befitting with the characteristics of the sign Virgo. As such, the selection of Mercury as the ruler of the sign Virgo is also quite justified.
