Explanation for the selection of Sun as the lord of the sign Leo

The fifth sign of the Zodiac is Leo, fixed fiery sign of Rajas nature. The fifth house signifies intelligence, genius, offspring, consequence of the native taking Aries as the starting point. Aries is cardinal fiery sign of Tamas nature. The three fiery signs in the Zodiac are Aries, Leo and Saggitarius. The third fiery sign Saggitarius is dual and Sattwik in nature. Although the cardinal sign Aries signifies the start of life, its seed lies in the fixed fiery sign Leo but for creation to take material shape what is required is active form of energy i.e. fire. Therefore, the fixed fire in Leo gets through a transition stage of dual fire in Saggitarius before being fully converted into cardinal fire of Aries. In our solar system, the Sun is the significator of the entire creation. The Sun is glorified by its immeasurable energy and brightness. The similarities of characteristics of the Sun with that of the sign Leo cause the selection of the former as the lord of the latter. Again, Sun being the origin of the creation, its selection as the lord of the fifth sign Leo is quite justified in view of the fact that the fifth house signifies offspring. Leo being the fifth sign from Aries signifies the consequence of the physical body of the native one of which is the reproduction of the body in the form of offspring. For the same reason, it also signifies the convergence of each individual soul with the origin i.e. the Sun in the form of “Sat-Chit-Ananda” as said in Hindu Upanishads. Leo being also the 10th house from Scorpio, the eighth sign of the Zodiac signifying the location of the soul after destruction of the body signifies the best expression of the incorporeal soul i.e. returning point of the soul to its origin i.e. the Sun ruling over the sign Leo. Therefore, the sublimed pleasures of creations are inherent in the Sun. Considering all these matters, it may be said that the selection of the Sun as the lord of the sign Leo is quite justified.
